What is the best web hosting?

A frequently-asked query:

What is the best web hosting?

It needs to support Java, Flash, MySQL, PHP, and WordPress.

I am looking at Godaddy or Bluehost (does it support Java?).

suggest you visit http://www.hostingcouponoffer.com they come with a free domain name, unlimited webspace and bandwidth.

They also come with Java, Flash, MySQL, PHP, and WordPress and website wizard and software suite called Fantastico which includes all manner of scripts to use to get your site up and running the easy way.

Also when you go with the hosting enter discount code 25OFF for 25% off all their plans.

I have several sites with them and have been more than happy with their help and support.

    Hope this helps

I would look at 1and1 instead. They support everything you need. Here’s a comparison chart between 1and1 and GoDaddy.

You’ll see that you get much more with 1and1 and you won’t have to deal with cPanel. I am saying this from personal experience. I have been using them and I have recommended them for several years. To date, I’ve yet to hear a complaint.

Virtually all linux hosts will support MySQL, PHP. WordPress is written in PHP and uses MYSQL so they are covered as well.

Flash is a client based technology, unless you need to (a)stream live flash (b)prevent users from saving files (c)allow for fast forwarding/rewind without requiring a full download of (d) other advanced techniques then any standard host will suffice. If you actually need streaming then you are probably in the dedicated server territory.

Similarly Java is mostly client based, so unless you actually need server side java AKA Tomcat then any standard host will do. You do not need java on the server unless your application is written in java, simply having java in your web pages does not require a java server.

http://hostingscorecard.com/SharedLS-1.html lists the top ranked web hosts (in order) based on a minimum of 1000 user reviews/comments over the last 6 months. Bluehost is currently listed at #40 (but it changes weekly). Godaddy is currently not listed because it does not meet our criterion for selection.

Are you sure you need Java and not Javascript. Java hosts are very rare and expensive, and none of those hosts support it. Unless your pages are gonna be JavaServer Pages (.jsp) you don’t need Java. Everything else you mentioned is standard (supported by all hosts) but Java is not, and if you program in Java you can’t have WordPress (it’s PHP/MySQL/HTML/CSS/Javascript program) and you don’t need PHP.

I recommend one of these: http://www.hosttell.com/

Powweb has the best offer right now. It’s on a 50% sale – $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them. They include easy, one click install of WordPress through their control panel.

i don’t recommend godaddy, they look reliable and cheap but somehow they find a way to rip you off and their technical support is totally unprofessional ( based on personal experience).
bluehost is very well rated and is pretty reliable but you can definitely get the same quality service for less.
jump launch (which i personally use) is really good, for $60/year with free domain, $80 google adwards and yahoo credits and preconfigured scripts for wordpress, blogs, forum creation..etc

also dotster is very well rated and recommended, it`s for $63/year and they are running a promotion right now, you can get 5 free domains with any web hosting plan, if you wanna check it out on http://tinyurl.com/dotsterpromotion ,coupon code is (5FORFREE)

I know that I needed wordpress for my site and I was able to install it within 1 min and about 5 clicks using my hosts cPanel using Fantastico. It is a free script installer that is AMAZING. haha, But all the things that you said are supported by the person I host with which is JxHosting.com.
    Check them out man.
