Best Web Hosting Site for Business?

A business hosting question:

Hi – I currently use ZyWeb as the web hosting service for my business (really an organization/association). ZyWeb seems to be very dated, and the templates are very restrictive. I am very computer literate, but not so much in web hosting/design. I can play around and figure things out, but I have no idea how to edit HTML codes or what that does. I would love a service where I could start with a template, but still move things around – and make it my own. For example, instead of just being able to type text into the correct spot, be able to move the header into the middle of the page (not that I would want to do that, just an example). Not a requirement, but would be nice. I just need the basics for the most part. Good customer service. Any web host suggestions would be great. If you have a website with one and wouldn’t mind sharing – I’d appreciate that too! The main one I’ve heard of so far is Host Gator.

Thanks in advance, and I do choose best answers!

There are lots of desktop software (like Dreamweaver, iWeb, Expression Web) that would get you close to what you want (placing a box here, a text paragraph there, a logo here etc) but they are definitely not recommended for someone with computer knowledge. Why? Because you are capable of a much more robust and clean-coded websites than what these tools can offer. The same is the case with the online site builders (given by web hosting companies). While they can help you put up a beautiful looking website (because of all the templates), they usually create a website which doesn’t have clean code most of the times. The result is that search engines find it harder to understand what these websites are about etc. Plus they aren’t all that flexible. Sometimes you’d have constraints posed by the template you choose and it could be difficult to resolve it.

So yep, I am not completely against it – I recommend it all the time to beginners because the trade off (having a website as opposed to not having it) is pointless for someone who isn’t computer literate. But for you the learning curve might be much smaller and worth the investment of time. That said you could also hit a middle ground with content management systems or website frameworks like WordPress (see http://wordpress.org) because they do give you clean code and the ability to modify your templates AND beautiful looking websites too.

That said, I’d recommend Host gator too. I have been with them for some time and they have given me good customer service and quality hosting for a reasonable price. They have a site builder and you can actually see the templates etc even before you sign up with them on their site. So you can use that for beginning and once you are ok with WordPress or HTML/CSS skills you could put up a different site on them. You could use coupons to get their services for much less: like MONTH1FREE to get yoru first month for 1 cent or HOSTGATOR25OFFER to get 25% off on your hosting bills (this could save a lot).

Meanwhile here is a good tutorial for CSS that you can start learning: http://htmldog.com

    Hope that helps.

For Business web hosting, I would strongly recommend GreenGeeks.

Their Green hosting starts from $4.95 per month. But if you sign up now and use the coupon code "100WH", then you will get an instant $30 off. Just enter the code "100WH" (without the double quotation marks) into the coupon code field when you are placing your order. On top of that, if you sign up now, you will get a chance to win an Apple iPad2. Check out GreenGeeks website http://www.greengeeks.com/

GreenGeeks also includes 2 web site builder programs. They are SoHo Launch Builder and the RV Site Builder. These are really powerful yet user friendly site builder programs. For example, you can read more about RV Site Builder here http://www.rvsitebuilder.com/

Good luck and all the best to your new web hosting.

There are many good web hosting providers at very affordable price.
However, for business you have to consider web hosting provider that has fast response and fast server. You can start on shared hosting environment and move to VPS if you have more demanding website or higher traffic. So better to sign up with web hosting providers that provide these services.

One name comes in my mind is Host Gator (http://www.hostgator.com) have fast server ad great response on support in case you are in trouble. Use this coupon code (HGATORDEALS) to get 25% discount.

Sharkspace (http://www.sharkspace.com) also has very good reputation, average support response time is only 10 minutes.

You can get more info and hosting discount coupon here: http://www.1on1webhosting.com
