There is no definitive book and I’ll add to what Smelly Cat has said by recommending you look at the link in my resources for a popular writer on the make money online niche. He has archived a good number of posts originally posted on his Blogger blog at this site.

Love or hate him, and people are divided on this, whilst I don’t agree with everything he has written, he has an amusing style and will steer you away from a lot of the B.S. written by people who don’t have a clue and don’t really make any money. There are lots of them, just as there are lots of books and ebooks written by people who don’t even make enough money to cover their internet bill every month.

There are so many ways you can potentially earn money you need to find the ways that work for you and your site(s) and it’s rarely as easy as most people claim or will try to tell you in order to sell you something

I am not suggesting you reading book on money making from blogging because most of them are scam. Try searching for SEO tactic and how to increase your site page-rank on Google.

Making money from blog will depend on the quality of your posts and the genre your web content has oriented. For basic monetizing scheme, put Google Adsense to you blog but it won’t make a lot of money.

To cover monthly payment for domain and web hosting, Pay Per Post is a good place for making money online, and you can even make a living out of it.

If you can draw a lot of readers to your blog, try sell ad placement instead. This way will better secure your income.

I’ve used a few different CMS scripts. E107, Drupal, Joomla , I’ve also used wordpress and textpattern. My favorite is WordPress. The irc support channel is very helpful, forums are as well. there’s hundreds of plugins you can use to set your site up the way you want and they are usually very detailed on how to use them.

For a video blog theme, there are many you could use that are free or paid. Themeforest probably has the best paid ones. Doing a quick google search I found http://themetoday.com/2009/wordpress-theme/cool-video-blog-themes-for-wordpress/ which has some free ones.

If you plan to link videos from a site like youtube, to display them on your site, this is easily done with wordpress. There’s a plugin I use myself poppysvideos that lets you embed videos from many sites like youtube just by using a shortcode [youtube] URL [/youtube] in your post.

I’m sure other scripts might do the same thing, but I found wordpress the easiest to use and to create or edit themes for, and 3.0 beta 2 was released last week, it seems to work great. Also, many webhosts include wordpress in their cpanel.

PS: I’ll also add, wordpress is very flexible, just because a theme is set up one way in a demo, doesn’t mean you can’t set your site up differently.
